The Fluttering Wings Bat Walk

A huge thank you to everyone who joined Shiverpool for our Fluttering Wings Bat Walk in St James’ Cemetery Garden …

The evening was a wonderful success, bringing together history, folklore, hidden corners of the cemetery and, of course, the remarkable bats that emerge above the gardens as daylight fades.

Along the way we explored some of St James’ most fascinating features, from the Oratory, ancient graffiti, Huskisson’s Mausoleum and the dramatic landscape beneath Liverpool Cathedral. As darkness settled in, attention turned skywards as we introduced the group to the bats that make the gardens their home.

Armed with bat detectors, sharp eyes and plenty of curiosity, the group experienced a very different side of this extraordinary Liverpool space.

It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm for the wildlife, history and heritage of St James’ Cemetery Garden, and Shiverpool would like to thank everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a memorable one.

Fluttering Wings will return…
