Special Dog Friendly Shiverpool Walk with Hector's Greyhound Rescue
Hector’s Greyhound Rescue is teaming up with Shiverpool - Liverpool’s Award-Winning ghost tour specialists—for a first-ever event: a group dog walk with a spooky, historical twist! We’ll explore the historic streets of Liverpool and wander through the spooky graveyards of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, uncovering the haunted history of the city.
Please Note This is a One-Off bespook event and has been specially adapted for our four legged friends.
Shiverpool don’t usually permit dogs on their tours due to the nature of the performance (except guide dogs) So don’t miss your chance to bring your furry friends along for this afterdark adventure!
Hectors are also hosting a fancy-dress competition for both dogs and children, with prizes for the best costumes! There’s just a £5 donation on the day to enter, and all proceeds go to Hector’s Greyhound Rescue. Professional photographers will be there, and even the local newspaper will be covering the event!

Hector’s Greyhound Rescue is a small, passionate rescue made up of a dedicated group of volunteers who devote their time to saving and rehoming ex-racing greyhounds and other sighthounds.
We are based in Shropshire Aberystwyth and Southport and work tirelessly to rescue greyhounds from the racing industry that are no longer wanted or that have been abandoned, as well as other sighthounds who need us. We work to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome all these dogs into loving, forever homes.
We rescue Greyhounds for a variety of reasons:
· Many find themselves at risk of being “put to sleep” after their racing career.
· We receive others directly from their trainers.
· Some are brought to us after being abandoned as strays.
· While others come from owners who can no longer keep them.
Currently, we have around 40 greyhounds looking for their forever homes. Sadly, they are taking longer to rehome, maybe due to the ongoing cost of living crisis but perhaps also because of the rising cost of dog-ownership (insurance, vet costs etc), and this is driving up the rescue’s running costs and so we are having to seek out more and more fundraising opportunities.
