Hidden Histories of Hope Street

Tour description

Meet outside the Historic Philharmonic Pub, Hope Street. On this tour you will encounter Liverpool's Victorian history and hidden secrets. Your guide will lead you around Liverpool's magical Hope Street neighbourhood and the tip of the Georgian Quarter.

Visit the old Wellington Rooms where the Irish Centre once regaled the Irish community with dancing, music and provided its attendees with the best Guinness the city could provide- trek down the cracked smile of Rodney Street- home to prolific poets photographers decrepit churches and forgotten graveyards- (said to be the most haunted street in Northern England.) End your journey in the bowels of Liverpool within the depths of St James' Gardens- a former Quarry and graveyard- the final resting place for nearly 58,000 souls.

Your guide will show you more besides on a whistle stop tour of Liverpool's fascinating and sometimes blood curdling past.

Tour length: 1.5 hours

Meeting Point: Outside The Philharmonic Pub Ending: St James' Gardens, Upper Duke Street

This tour is wheelchair friendly, we advise you to call the office for full details 0151 709 2030

For those with young children, please bear in mind that this is a theatrical walking tour and as an audience member the normal rules of the theatre do apply- so get ready to laugh, learn, take part and listen.
